Maximilian Ehrhardt – Harp
Maximilian Ehrhardt is one of a new generation of performers of the historical harp, renowned for his blend of virtuosity, scholarly inquiry and innovative concert programming. He studied modern harp in Amsterdam and historical harps in Milan and is recognised as one of the Europe’s leading exponents of the triple harp. Originating Italy, the triple harp is the kind of instrument that early 19th century visitors to Conwy would have heard in the inns of the town at the time Telford’s bridge was built. Max will include in his programme variations on Welsh airs, such as those on ‘Morfa Rhuddlan’ by composer John Parry (Parri ddall) along with a range of works by Handel and other 18th and early 19th century composers. The concert will take place in candlelight in order to enhance the intimate nature of the instrument and the music to be performed.

Astudiodd y delyn fodern yn Amsterdam a thelynau hanesyddol ym Milan ac mae’n cael ei gyfrif yn un o ddehonglwyr arweiniol y delyn deires. Yn y 19eg ganrif byddai ymwelwyr â Chonwy wedi clywed seiniau’r delyn deires yn nhafarndai’r dref – yn y cyfnod pan fyddai pont Telford yn cael ei hadeiladu ger y Castell. Bydd Max yn cynnwys alawon Cymreig, fel Morfa Rhuddlan, gan y cyfansoddwr John Parry (Parri ddall), gweithiau gan Handel a chyfansoddwyr eraill o’r 18fed a’r 19eg ganrif. Cynhelir y cyngerdd mewn golau canhwyllau i ychwanegu at yr awyrgylch.
