Choral Workshop with Joe Cooper

Conwy Classical Music Festival is delighted that Joe Cooper, Director of University Music at Bangor, has agreed to lead a choral workshop at the 2026 festival. The event will take place at St Mary’s Church, Conwy, on Saturday, July 25th, commencing at 10am and concluding with a performance of the works studied at 2.45pm.
The choice of music by Mendelssohn and Elgar for the workshop ties in with Conwy’s celebration of the 200th anniversary of Thomas Telford’s iconic suspension bridge, for both composers visited Conwy and crossed Telford’s bridge. The Mendelssohn piece that have been selected is his setting of Psalm 43: ‘Richte mich, Gott’, and Elgar is represented by unaccompanied part-songs: Serenade, Love’s Tempest, The Fountain and The Shower.

There are no set admission charges to festival concerts. Audiences are invited to contribute to a collection at the end of each performance towards the very considerable costs involved in running the festival. We very much appreciate the generous support which we receive from our sponsors in making this arrangement possible and allowing access to the festival to everyone, irrespective of their financial means. Any profit accruing is carried forward to ensure that the festival continues to flourish in the years ahead.
